Alexander Graham Bell National Historic Site

Alexander Graham Bell National Historic Site of Canada is a member of Parks Canada’s family of special places and spaces that commemorate our natural and cultural heritage.

Here you can explore the amazing worlds of a lifetime that has touched all of us. You’re in for a pleasant surprise because the telephone was only the beginning of Alexander Graham Bell’s life-long pursuit of knowledge and invention.

Discover how air and water captured Dr. Bell’s imagination and how ideas led him to transmit sound on light and create a treadle powered sound recording device, man-carrying kites, airplanes and a record setting-hydrofoil boat.

Find out how he bridged the world between sound and silence, participate in experiment, kite-making and kite-flying programs, enjoy hands-on activities designed especially for children and take in a presentation in Mr. Bell Theatre.

Plan to spend a minimum of two hours in this accessible facility where interactive displays, films, artifacts, models and a beautiful historic photo collection provide an entertaining and informative experience for everyone. Ask about our children’s area.Picnic facilities are available on the beautiful grounds overlooking the Bras d’Or Lakes where Alexander Graham Bell and his associates made history.

Be sure to visit the Museum Store and the Srubag for a wee cup
of tea.

Children's Corner

Don't miss Discover where the children and their families can enjoy at their leisure hands on activities, dress-up, puzzles and more.

Look for the "Big Book". This book, written and illustrated by children, is so big it's mounted on the wall.

Make, decorate and fly a kite that's yours to keep in our Kite program offered daily in July & August and on weekends in September.

Can water go uphill? Find out in our Experiment Program and help us do simple experiments like those Bell did with his grandchildren.
